The Perfect Dullstroom Stay
Forest Dawn Lodge is about 2½ hours’ drive from Johannesburg or Pretoria, just outside the village of Dullstroom on the De Berg road. It is located near to the Verlorenvallei Nature Reserve which is a declared RAMSAR site for the protection of grasslands and wetlands and which is popular with tourists because of its wide bird and plant diversity.
About the Lodge
Forest Dawn lodge offers self catering accommodation for 14 people in seven beautiful rooms.
Five of the rooms have their own en-suite bathrooms and two of the bedrooms have double beds. All bed linen and towels are provided. The three lounges offer the opportunity of spending quality time together with family and friends. On cold winter evenings one can socialise cozily in front of the log fires.
Firewood is provided and additional wood can be purchased. The lodge also has DSTV to ensure that visitors do not miss out on any sporting events. The kitchen is fully equipped and in the “Man Cave” there are enough refrigerators to keep beverages and drinks ice cold. On your arrival a selection of coffee, tea and rusks are provided to welcome you! The two built in barbecues offer the opportunity of either braaiing outdoors in the courtyard on a beautiful summer evening or indoors, in the popular braai room, during the icy cold winter months. There is a domestic worker available daily for the convenience of guests and staff tipping is at your discretion
What to Do
Come and lose your heart and enjoy a well-deserved getaway in the ever popular Dullstroom environment. The stunning dams, teeming with trout, are in walking distance of the lodge. Visitors can fish, or just soak up the enchanting scenery while hiking or cycling. Fishing Permits are available. The pine plantations on this property are part of the family farm and have been in operation, together with other branches of agriculture, for many years. In order to extend your trip, you could travel via the historic Long Tom Pass to Sabie and Hazy View, Hoedspruit and Phalaborwa and even Tzaneen can be visited via the Strydom Tunnel. The Kruger National Park is only a 2½ hour drive from Dullstroom.
